Ethos
Chicago plays a pivotal role in the cannabis industry, where the foundation is rooted in innovation, curiosity, and social equity. These values, combined with the wisdom gained from mature markets, guide our efforts as more states embrace legalization. In order for the plant to prosper, fundamental knowledge should be accessible and dispersed.
Our goal is to support the success of everyone in the industry by promoting sustainable planning, enabling companies to conserve valuable resources and focus on what sets them apart, helping them achieve their goals. We deeply appreciate and respect the essential role that legacy growers and breeders have played in preserving landrace strains and enhancing the plant with new hybrids. We want to empower the next generation of cultivators and operators while supporting those that have come before us. Our mission is to be stewards of the plant, dedicated to nurturing the industry's growth and ensuring its future success.
The Founders
One of our founders, Giavanna, has been building and scaling cannabis and hemp operations nationally and globally for the last 5 years. Her background began in specialty crops 15 years ago finding creative solutions for an array of projects and expanding diverse operations with a wide variety of plants. Her boots-on-the-ground sensibilities blended with strategy and resourcefulness are underscored by her academic accomplishments in the world of plant sciences and business. She lacked an adequate and uniform planning tool for vertically integrated operations.
Partnering with her co-founder, Alex, they interviewed 20 of the leading vertically integrated cannabis operators and found others felt the same. With Alex’s background transforming supply chains for consumer-goods companies and co-founding a precision agriculture software startup for controlled environment farms, Almannac was born.
Our Pledge
While some build wealth from cannabis, others remain imprisoned for the same actions. The war on drugs is deeply flawed. We commit 1% of our profits to support release and reentry programs as well as policy and advocacy efforts for reform.
